Montana Committee Passes HB382

Montana's House Business and Labor Committee has passed House Bill 382, which would officially recognize gold and silver as legal tender and remove taxes on both metals. The bill would allow gold and silver to be used for public and private debt payments and includes provisions to exclude central bank digital currencies (CBDC) as legal tender. Additionally, it aims to eliminate capital gains taxes on precious metals, promoting the use of gold and silver instead of Federal Reserve notes. This bill would position Montana alongside other states like Utah in creating a gold-backed economy and protecting individuals from currency debasement.
