Groundbreaking Legislation Empowers Arkansans with Economic Freedom
Little Rock, AR – Economic War Room® with Kevin Freeman announces a major breakthrough for the Constitutional Currency (aka Pirate Money) initiative. In a historic move for economic liberty, Arkansas passed House Bill 1918, making Arkansas the first state to authorize gold and silver as legal tender for everyday electronic payments. The Economic War Room team has propagated the “transactional gold” project facilitating legislation in 20+ states.
This landmark legislation, sponsored by Rep. Mindy McAlindon and co-sponsored by Senators Jim Dotson, Clint Penzo, and Matt McKee builds on the 2023 Arkansas Legal Tender Act, which recognized gold and silver specie as legal tender and repeals state taxes on their purchase, sale, or exchange.
HB1918, passed with strong bipartisan support in the Arkansas House and Senate, authorizes the state’s Chief Fiscal Officer to contract with an authorized vault or bullion depository to implement a “precious metals-backed electronic payment system” for citizens to conduct business within Arkansas. This innovative system allows citizens to purchase gold and silver, attach a debit card to their holdings, and use these precious metals as functional currency for everyday transactions—anywhere debit or MasterCard is accepted.
“This legislation is a game-changer for Arkansans,” said Rep. McAlindon. “While our 2023 law was a vital first step, it didn’t make gold and silver easily usable for the average person. Now, by linking gold and silver to a debit card through a secure vault system, we’ve created a free-market choice that empowers citizens to use precious metals as a hedge against inflation and a practical payment method for groceries, car repairs, or savings.”
Senator Dotson added, “This law makes gold and silver available to everyone. By making access to gold and silver easy to use, citizens can start with as little as 10 cents worth of gold, save securely, and spend it when needed. It’s a rainy day fund and a currency all in one, giving Arkansans more control over their financial future.”
The legislation aligns with Article I, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution, which permits states to recognize gold and silver as legal tender. Arkansas is the first state to implement a fully transactional system for precious metals, setting a precedent for economic liberty; other states are exploring similar legislation. A bipartisan coalition of volunteers and grassroots organizations continues to drive this movement forward.
The inspirational leader of this movement is Kevin Freeman, CFA, a New York Times bestselling author, former defense contractor, and leading advocate for gold and silver as constitutional currency (aka Pirate Money). Freeman’s book, Pirate Money: Discovering the Founders’ Hidden Plan for Economic Justice and Defeating the Great Reset, outlines the constitutional and technological foundations for restoring gold and silver as currency. His work, featured on Economic War Room with Kevin Freeman (Blaze TV) and Pirate Money Radio (American Family Radio), has galvanized bipartisan support across the country
“Kevin Freeman and his team have been invaluable resources for legislators nationwide,” said Rep. McAlindon. “His research and advocacy have shown us how to make the Founders’ vision for constitutional currency a reality in the digital age.”
